January removal and warehouse storage

Takedown and storage for commercial holiday decor

Commercial holiday lighting installation and storage belong in the same program, because the way a display comes down decides how well it goes up next year. We remove every program we install in the first three weeks of January, inventory it by building and location, label it and store it in our climate-controlled warehouse in London, Ontario until the next season.

Takedown is scheduled after hours on a date you choose, so a lobby tree is gone before the first tenant arrives and an exterior crew with a lift is off the lot before the morning rush. Clips, cords, timers and mounts come down with the product. We leave the building and grounds as we found them and photograph anything we want you to see.

Over the summer, trees, garland and lighting are tested, repaired and refurbished so what goes up in October works on the first night. Returning clients get priority rebooking: your install and takedown dates are held before new work is scheduled. There is nothing for your building staff to carry, box or find room for. Install photos from the previous season are kept on file so the crew sets up to the same plan.

  • Any property we installed this season
  • Buildings with no storage space
  • Property managers running several sites
  • Hotels that need lobbies cleared early in January
  • Plazas and malls with lift-only rooflines
  • Municipal parks and downtown streets
What's included

Everything in a takedown & storage program

01

Scheduled January removal

Takedown runs the first three weeks of January on a date and time you choose. Interior work happens after hours; exterior work uses the same bucket trucks and lifts as the install, with cones and spotters where traffic needs managing. A typical lobby or storefront is cleared in one visit.

02

Complete removal of hardware

We remove the lights, garland and decor along with every clip, tie, cord, timer and mount we installed, so nothing is left on the roofline, columns or railings to weather over the summer. Any marks or issues we notice are photographed and reported to you before we leave.

03

Inventory and labelling

Each program is inventoried as it comes down: tree sections, ornament boxes, garland reels, lighting runs by location and planter contents. Everything is labelled with your building and the spot it came from, so next year's crew loads exactly what that property needs and installs it where it went before.

04

Climate-controlled warehouse

Product is stored in our own warehouse, off the floor and out of the damp, so ribbon does not fade, ornaments do not craze and tree lighting does not corrode. You give up no storage room, mechanical space or parking stall to boxes for eleven months of the year.

05

Testing and refurbishment

Before the next season, trees are tested section by section, garland and strings are checked and repaired, bows are re-tied and tired ornaments are replaced. Leased product is refreshed at our cost. For owned product under a service program, we tell you what needs replacing and quote it before install.

06

Priority rebooking

Returning clients have their dates held before new work is booked. Over the summer we confirm your install and takedown windows, any scope changes and any design refresh, then load the labelled inventory in order of the schedule. Early confirmation keeps your pre-Black-Friday slot.

How it works

Four steps, no surprises

  1. 1

    Confirm the takedown date

In December we confirm a January date and time with your property manager, concierge or store manager. Most clients want trees gone in the first week and exterior lights down before mid-month.

  2. 2

    After-hours removal

Crews remove the decor, hardware, cords and timers, protect floors and finishes and leave the property clean. Exterior crews use lifts and traffic control where needed. We photograph the site on the way out.

  3. 3

    Inventory and storage

Everything is counted, labelled by building and location and racked in our climate-controlled warehouse. You receive confirmation that the program is stored and a note of anything that needs attention before next season.

  4. 4

    Refurbish and rebook

Over the summer we test and refurbish the inventory and reach out to confirm next season's dates and any changes. Your slot is reserved before new clients are scheduled, so returning clients always hold their dates.

FAQ

Takedown & Storage questions

Is takedown and storage included or an extra charge?
It is included in every program, leased or owned. The seasonal price covers removal in January, labelling, storage in our warehouse and refurbishment before the next install. We do not invoice separately for the takedown visit or for warehouse space. The only exception is a client who wants product removed and stored outside the January window, which we schedule and quote individually.
When exactly do you take the lights down?
In the first three weeks of January, on a date you choose. Hotels and offices usually want lobby trees gone in the first week once holiday traffic ends. Exterior rooflines and tree wraps come down through mid-January, weather permitting, since lift work pauses during ice storms and high wind. If you want lights left up for a January event or a winter festival, tell us and we schedule around it.
Do you take down lights that another company installed?
Only as part of switching you to our program. We will remove and dispose of or return an old display when we are installing our own inventory in its place, and we price that into the first-year quote. We do not store or reinstall product we did not supply, because we cannot test or warranty it. Most clients switching to us let the old product go and start fresh under a lease.
What condition will our building be in after takedown?
The same as before install. Clips, ties, cords, timers and mounts all come down with the decor. We do not leave hooks on columns or hardware on rooflines over the summer. Floors and finishes are protected during interior removal, and we photograph the site on the way out. If we notice anything, a loose piece of fascia or a cracked planter, we report it to you with a photo rather than leave it for you to find.
How do you make sure the same display goes back up next year?
Every item is labelled with the building and the spot it came from and stored together as one program. Install photos from the previous season are kept on file so the crew sets up to the same plan. If you asked for changes, the inventory is adjusted in the warehouse over the summer. That is why a returning client's install usually takes less time than the first year, and why your slot is reserved first.
